Measuring the 𝗖𝗢₂ footprint of a FireDos foam proportioner– insights from a master’s thesis
How sustainable is the production of a foam proportioner – and where is there room for improvement?
In a Master's Thesis in cooperation with HochschuleRheinMain, Louisa spent six months analyzing the environmental impact of one of our core products: the FD6000 foam proportioning system.
Recently, she shared her findings with us here at FireDos, giving valuable insights into the results.
Her analysis covered the entire production process, including raw materials and the transport between facilities.
Beside now having an idea of the CO₂ footprint, several potential reduction options were identified, such as the use of secondary materials like aluminum and steel, or using green electricity and own solar power – both at FireDos and with our suppliers.
At FireDos, we already run all our sites on GreenElectricity and are gradually expanding our own SolarPower capacity. Because for us, understanding the basics is the first step toward meaningful improvement.
A huge thank you to Louisa for her outstanding work – and to our HSE colleague Nickey Parzivand for his dedicated support as co-supervisor!
To all students : we’re looking forward to more exciting theses and collaborations in the future!
