FAQ fire monitors: frequently asked questions

  • What is a fire monitor and what is it used for?

Extinguishing monitors are flexible extinguishing devices that can extinguish a fire in a targeted manner thanks to their long range. Extinguishing monitors are always used when a long range is required. In addition, extinguishing monitors can precisely extinguish a source of fire, thereby reducing damage caused by heat, smoke, and extinguishing water.

Configuration

  • What sizes are available?

Our fire monitors are available in sizes with a maximum flow rate of 528 gpm to 15850 gpm.

  • Is there a valve integrated into the monitors?

The fire monitors do not contain a valve. This must be provided by the customer.

  • Which nozzle is the right one?

The variety of nozzles available for our fire monitors is clearly illustrated in a very informative video. We would be happy to advise you on selecting the right nozzle.

  • Can the amount of extinguishing agent in the extinguishing monitors be changed during operation?

With the optional AMPN / AFPD nozzle, the volume flow can be adjusted at any time, even during operation. These nozzles are often used on vehicles.

  •  What is the range of the fire monitors?

With the monitor app, you can enter various parameters to determine the range of the extinguishing monitors.

Installation

  • Can FireDos extinguishing monitors be integrated into existing extinguishing systems?

Since our fire monitors have standard drives, integration into existing systems is usually possible.

  • Can the extinguishing monitor also be mounted overhead?

This is easily possible. In this case, the resting position should be chosen so that the nozzle points downwards in order to completely drain the fire monitor.

  • How are the monitors mounted?

The fire monitors are simply attached to the pipe using their flange. The pipe flange must be able to absorb the recoil force of the fire monitor and be sufficiently stable. You can determine the recoil force using our monitor app.

  • Which cables/wires need to be laid to the fire monitors?

We would be happy to provide you with a connection diagram for our fire monitors.

Applications

  • Can fire monitors be used on vehicles?

Yes! Both manual and remote-controlled extinguishing monitors with 24VDC drives can be used on special vehicles. With our flexible control system with joystick and/or radio remote control, you always have the situation under control.

  • Are the fire monitors suitable for use with seawater?

Yes! The fire monitors are made of a highly corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy. Additional coatings further increase corrosion resistance.

  • Are the fire monitors also suitable for use with foam?

Our fire monitors are available with various nozzles. With a multi-purpose nozzle (MPN) and foam pipe (FP/FPD/RFP), the fire monitors can deliver heavy foam. The foam expansion ratio depends on the foam concentrate used.

Maintenance

  • What maintenance work needs to be carried out on the fire monitors?

Since the bearings in our fire monitors are lubricated for life and all components are designed for very harsh environments, maintenance is kept to a minimum. Our service team will be happy to advise you.
