Fire monitor commissioning in Australian tank storage facility

Fuel tank farms pose a significant fire risk due to the storage of highly flammable materials. A reliable fire protection system is essential. In Darwin, Northern Australia, three M3 extinguishing monitors from FireDos were recently installed in a tank farm. To ensure smooth commissioning, our service technician Marvin Franz traveled to Australia.

The implementation of the project required close cooperation between FireDos and Fire Protection Technologies Pty Ltd., FireDos' long-standing distributor in Australia. Fire Protection handled the brokerage and distribution of the products to the plant installer. Since the commissioning and maintenance of remote-controlled systems may only be carried out by trained specialists, Marvin Franz, service technician at FireDos, was on site.

M3 fire monitors with AMPN multi-purpose nozzle

FireDos developed a comprehensive solution consisting of three M3 fire monitors equipped with AMPN multi-purpose nozzles and a monitor control system. This combination enables a quick and effective response in an emergency: the monitors can extinguish fires with foam and water or, if necessary, cool adjacent tanks with water to prevent the fire from spreading. Thanks to the AMPN multi-purpose nozzle, the amount of extinguishing agent can be adjusted during operation.

Commissioning process

During commissioning, the installation and power supply were checked. This was followed by the adjustment of the end positions and extinguishing areas. In addition, the remote controls were tested and a water and foam test was carried out, which also included the change from hollow jet to spray jet.

The installation of the FireDos system has significantly improved safety in Australian fuel storage facilities. The end customer now benefits from a state-of-the-art fire protection system that can respond quickly and effectively to potential hazardous situations.
